The library offers a variety of several computer classes for our patrons.  

Upcoming dates for classes are available by calling the Information Desk at (701) 355-1480 or by accessing the online class schedule. 



Course Descriptions

Ancestry Library Edition
Receive hands on instruction with this genealogy database. Also take a tour of the library's print genealogy collection. Registration is required as class is limited to the first 6 persons. There is no charge. May register by phone. Prerequisite:  Must be able to use a mouse and have basic typing skills.

Beginning PowerPoint
Create a simple slide show while learning the basics.  Registration is required as class is limited to the first 6 persons. The cost is $5.00 per person.  Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration.  Prerequisite: Must be able to use a mouse and have basic typing skills.

Beginning Publisher
Create a business card and simple poster while learning the basic functions of Microsoft Publisher.  The class lasts two hours. The cost is $5.00 per person. Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration.  Prerequisite: Each student must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, using the mouse and basic typing skills. 

Business & Holiday Letters in Word
Create a business letter while learning the basic functions of Microsoft Word.  Look at holiday letters, envelopes, and labels.  The class lasts two hours. The cost is $5.00 per person. Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration. Prerequisites: each student must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, using the mouse and basic typing skills.

Homework Help for Parents
Do you struggle to help your child with reports and research papers? We have the answer!  Learn about resources and databases targeted to students K-12. Databases featured contain full-text articles and include reference materials, photographs, images, and maps. Also create book lists in your child’s Lexile reading level. Learn about “Live Homework Help” from Tutor.com, the free online tutoring service offered in partnership with the North Dakota State Library. Discover how you can access all these tools from home or office. Offered on a request basis only and lasts 45 minutes. There is no charge for this class. You may register in person at the Information Desk or by phone. Prerequisite: None except basic mouse and keyboarding skills. 

Internet Searching I
Learn basic terms and ways to search. The class lasts two hours. The cost is $5.00 per person. Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration.  Prerequisite: Must be able to use a mouse.

Internet Searching II
Practice searching skills.  Examine consumer websites, including Bismarck Public Library.  Organize favorites.  The class lasts two hours. The cost is $5.00 per person. Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration. Prerequisite: Beginning Internet I.

Reader's Resources
Examine book websites and the library's reader's resource.  Registration is required as class is limited to the first 6 persons. Cost is $5.00 per person.  Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration.  Prerequisite: Must be able to use a mouse and have basic typing skills.  

Resume Writing
Create a personal resume while learning the basic functions of Microsoft Word. Offered on a request basis only and lasts 90 minutes. The cost is $5.00 per person. Register in person at the Information Desk and pay at the time of registration.  Prerequisite:  Must be able to use a mouse and have basic typing skills.
