The treated water is discharged back to the Missouri River. The plant has a capacity of 7.5 million gallons per day and has a staff of 11.

Wastewater is collected from nearly 18,000 customers and delivered to the Wastewater Treatment Plant through a 290 mile network of sewers ranging in size from 6" to 36". The system also includes 20 wastewater pumping stations.

The wastewater treatment plant provides secondary treatment of the community’s wastewater prior to its discharge into the Missouri River. The plant utilizes pretreatment, flow equalization, primary and final clarification, trickling filters, chlorination and dechlorination. Anaerobic sludge digestion and land application of sludge is employed.
The plant recently completed a major upgrade of many of the treatment units at the facility.
